This issue includes the Goodman Beaver story "Goodman Goes Playboy," by Harvey Kurtzman and Will Elder. It's a satire of the hedonistic "philosophy" propagated by Playboy magazine. The story appropriated characters from the Archie comic books for the supporting cast, and it drew the ire of those comics' publisher, who viewed it as infringement. Ownership of the copyright was eventually transferred to the Archie publisher to resolve things. The story entered the public domain in 2004, when it was included in an issue of The Comics Journal.
