Note

Bill Sienkiewicz was easily the most visionary stylist among 1980s adventure-comics illustrators, and one of the most radical artists to ever work in print cartooning. He entered the comic-book field in 1978, with a style that was substantially derivative of an older comics artist named Neal Adams. It’s difficult to determine where to begin tracking his career. His mature work is characterized by the juxtaposition of different art styles and the use of mixed media for narrative effect. That is not present in the story “Perchance to Scream.” But the story does mark his departure from the Neal Adams influence, and the development of a more individual baseline pen-and-ink drawing style.
