The Spirit #1.

Published on July 1, 1966. Edited by Leon Harvey. The story “The Origin of the Spirit,” by Will Eisner, with Chuck Kramer, is the only one original to this publication. The others were originally published in The Spirit Sunday-newspaper comic-book insert between 1948 and 1949. This series, initially a self-publishing project of Wallace Wood’s, was an anthology of non-commercial work mostly by contemporary adventure cartoonists and illustrators. Ten issues were published between 1966 and 1976. They were distributed primarily through mail-order.
