This was the first in-depth scholarly presentation of a comics work in book format. In addition to the stories and the detailed historical context provided by Cat Yronwode and Will Eisner’s introductions, the book also includes Jules Feiffer’s layout art for the episodes, as well as unused scripts by Feiffer and Klaus Nordling for other “outer space” The Spirit stories.
